Kayla Smith, LCSW
Director of Clinical Services
Kayla is a licensed clinical social worker who is passionate about helping people make peace with their bodies in order to heal from cycles of disordered eating, self-criticism, and other mental health challenges. Kayla completed both her undergraduate and graduate level education at the University of Michigan where she received her Master of Social Work. She has treated patients at all levels of care across the mental health continuum including in outpatient, IOP, PHP, residential, and inpatient settings.
Her therapeutic style has been described by patients as warm, validating, and collaborative. She balances a variety of psychotherapeutic modalities to fit the individual needs of the people she is working with. For example, she incorporates the practical tools from behavioral and mindfulness-based frameworks such as DBT while also exploring how our deep-rooted histories connect to larger patterns in life with psychodynamic strategies. Kayla is LGBTQ affirming and recognizes how our unique identities and cultural context impacts our experience; she strives to make therapy a safe space for all. Recovering in a society that is constantly telling us we aren’t “enough” is hard and vulnerable work. However, with the right tools and loving community, recovery is possible – Kayla is dedicated to providing all patients who come to Montecatini with the support they need to find their own lasting recovery.
